85% of Marlie Mount students proficient in PEP
Perusing the data of the school’s performance, principal Calvin Harris said he was pleased by the efforts of the teachers and students, after reviewing the results.
A dramatic change in the methodology of how students are taught and tested triggered widespread debate with many, including parents, teachers, principals and parents expressing uneasiness with the timing of its implementation.
While it would be unwise to compare the former Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT) and its successor PEP, Harris is of the view that “we have maintained the standards”.
Headboy Okemo Duckie and Cassia Benjamin were two of four students who scored highly proficient in all subject areas. Duckie, will begin his secondary education at Glenmuir High, While Benjamin is off to the St Andrew-based all-girls institution Immaculate Conception High School.
