The National Water Commission (NWC) is reporting that its Bowers Pen facility in Old Harbour is out of commission due to an electrical problem.

The prolonged issue has been ongoing for close to a month residents say following the passage of Hurricane Beryl.

But the water company remains uncertain when the issue will be resolved, as its technical team is assessing the cause of the problem.

Contacted by Old Harbour News, the NWC issued an advisory stating: “The National Water Commission wishes to advise that the Bowers Pen Water Facility in St. Catherine is out of operation, as a result of an internal electrical problem with the pumping unit.

“This has resulted in water supply disruption to customers served by the facility.”

It added: “The company is indicating that as soon as an assessment is completed of the issues, customers will be informed of the restoration date.  In the interim water will be trucked to the affected areas upon request.”

Areas impacted are:  Bowers Pen, Claremont Drive, sections of Old Harbour, Bowers Drive, Succaba, Bannister, Bodles and Rhone Park.
