Pastor gunned down in Old Harbour

Michael Spencer
Images now circulating on social media, showed Spencer’s lifeless body on the ground at Lincoln Plaza with what appears to be a single bullet wound to the head.
Spencer, 41, is well known in the Old Harbour space along with wife Apostle Martha Spencer, who is the founder of the church formerly known as One Reaching One Deliverance International Ministry.
Preliminary investigation from the Old Harbour police is that about 8:00 pm Spencer, who operates a business on the plaza, was attacked by unknown assailant(s) who escaped on foot.
A large crowd quickly converged at the scene of the crime, while vehicular traffic has been diverted from West Street to other alternate routes.
The deadly gun attack is bound to spark debate around the contentious and confusing curfew policy declared for St Catherine South Police Division which encompasses Old Harbour.
Spencer was killed exactly two hours after the expiration of the latest 48-hour curfew order announced Thursday. But the non-existence of security forces on the ground in all likelihood means that Spencer’s killer(s) would have escaped unchallenged even if the crime was committed within the active period of the curfew.
Three 48-hour curfews have been declared for St Catherine South Division since the start of this week after five murders were recorded in the space since the start of the year prior to tonight’s killing of Spencer.
However, the glaring absence of boots on the ground and businesses permitted to operate arbitrarily, the relevance of imposing a curfew is being strongly question by the public.
Investigators say a motive for the murder of Spencer is yet to be established.
This is the second murder recorded for the police subdivision of Old Harbour for 2025.
