Still a fledging foundation, as it was formed during the covid-19 pandemic, Dr Thomas and her team treated staff at the primary institution just before the Christmas break.

The event coincided with the staff’s annual Christmas party and was the fulfillment of a promise made in the summer of 2023 in which the teaching and general staff were afforded feel medical checks, which is the core principle of the TagHeart Foundation.

“In the true spirit of Christmas, the Tagheart Foundation spread a little Christmas cheer to the staff of Old Harbour Primary School.

“It was an honor and privilege to share in the festivities and to again have the opportunity to thank the staff at Old Harbor Primary School for their continued contributions and dedication to educating the young minds of their students,” said the Colbeck-born Dr Thomas.

During the day’s festivities the foundation organized a raffle from which three cash prizes, totaling $30,000, was awarded to lucky staff members.

“There were raffle tickets given out free of charge to all persons at the event, with persons who attended the health fair conducted by Tagheart Foundation in June 2023, being given two tickets,” said Dr Thomas, who is the foundation’s president.

“The event was lively and the atmosphere was filled with Christmas spirit. The warmth and hospitality of the Old Harbour Primary School team was palpable.”

The TagHeart Foundation is co-founded with Jamaican-born engineer Mark McTaggart, who is the husband of Dr Thomas.
The main goal of the foundation is to attend to the health needs of teachers and general staff within the educational institutions in Jamaican.
