Elevation Cycling Club’s May Pen race meet ‘successful’

“On behalf of the Elevation Cycling Club we want to show gratitude to all for a safe, wonderful and fun race. 

“Thanks to our dedicated sponsor First Stop Hardware, and the ECC team of volunteers on the ground, to go out and organize this race to a safe ending. 

“Thanks to all the participants that came out today despite the anticipated weather, this race was accident-free, and successful and we are looking forward for other successful races in the future. We really appreciate your support,” said Creary.

Thirty-one riders participated in the development road circuit race staged in Clarendon on Sunday.

Riders tested their stamina, speed, and race intelligence over the 36km circuit from the round-a-bout at Mineral Heights to Lionel Town square and back

Shaquille Sinclair, competing in the elite category, was first past the finish line ahead of Jerome Forrest and Mark Williams.

National junior champion Jaequan Dixon led a clean sweep of the podium places in the junior category for Elevation Cycling Club, with club mates Peter Robinson and Antonio Brown securing second and third spots respectively.

Kirk Finnikin topped the masters field ahead of Carlisle Russell and Shawn Jeffrey, while Wayne Smith was first, Sean Toulage, second and Mario Hall, third in the super masters division.

Melaika Russell was the lone female in the competition.

Creary said the club will be aiming to host more races in the coming months as it continues to raise its profile to becoming one of the top sporting organizations on the island. 

“This is our first race for the year and we have two upcoming races and other events for this year – August 20th and December 17th,” she stated. “We are looking forward to another successful season.”

The event carried a purse of approximately $226,000 which was shared among the top performers in each category.

The Elevation Cycling Club is based in Bodles, Old Harbour.
