Like last year, Lafe Crescent, Old Harbour was abuzz with excitement, the entire road blocked off for a day of jollification, medical care and giveaways.

At the heart of the mission is lead director Andrea King-Chang, daughter of the late Yvonne Castle, described as a selfless soul who was a ‘mother’ to all.

This year saw a few notable changes to ensure a smoother operation. More police officers were visibly providing adequate security and better crowd control management while the Dr Kurt Waul Foundation was on board as a partner providing free medical examination.

Speaking to Old Harbour News King-Chang says the hearts of 1,200 children were blessed by the benevolence of the foundation, a 20 percent increase on last year’s distribution.

The goal King-Chang reiterated is to continue to reach more children.

The Yvonne Castle Foundation is among many not-for-profit organization that has been making a difference to the lives of people in need living on the island and more specifically Old Harbour where Castle lived and raised her children.

For this year, charitable donations such as these come at the most opportune times as the country continue to rebuild from the setbacks brought on by the passage of category four Hurricane Beryl.

Many hearts have been broken by the devastation of the storm but thanks to the Yvonne Castle Foundation many hearts have been touched and now mending.
