The illegal weapon was confiscated after an off duty cop, Cpl. Fernando Daley, fatally shot Danny Grover who allegedly pointed a gun at the officer.

The incident occurred about 2:15 am at a bar situated at Marlin Crescent West, Old Harbour Glades.

A report from the police stated that an argument developed between Cpl. Daley and Grover, 24, an unemployed resident of the community, over the non-payment of a bill at the pub.

During the quarrel, it is alleged that Grover pulled a gun from his waist and pointed it at the police. The police took swift evasive action while discharging his weapon hitting Grover in the process.

Grover, also known as 'Yawney', was taken by the police to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Bureau of Special Investigation (BSI), the Independent Commission (INDECOM) are conducting separate probe into the matter.
