Mother of police officer succumbed after gun attack in Old Harbour Glades
Reports are that about 11:47 am Laetitia Francis was inside her shop located on said premises when three armed men entered the establishment and shot her several times before fleeing the scene.
She was rushed to the hospital by residents but was pronounced dead while doctors tried desperately to save her life.
Francis is the mother of Cpl Fernando Daley, who was involved in a fatal shooting in the same community last week Friday. The deceased has been identified as 24-year-old Danny ‘Yawney’ Grover, who the police said pointed a gun at the officer during a confrontation. One illegal .38 revolver containing five live rounds was allegedly taken from Grover.
One senior police officer told Old Harbour News that investigators at the moment are treating the incident as a reprisal to Grover’s death after Corporal Daley reported of threats made against him.
Though no arrest has been made, the police say they are pursuing several leads that possibly could lead to an early breakthrough.
Investigation continues.
