There's a teaching going around which says: "There are two equal forces in our universe: Good and Bad; Light and Darkness; Ying and Yang; God and Devil.

I want to declare categorically that not only is this teaching WRONG, it is even insulting to God Who chose to create all things, creature and concepts – yes even evil (Isa. 45:7). Don't sweat it, He is still in full control and at no time is the devil comparable to God. Where, however, the enemy seems to be making inroads is in the hearts of God's most beloved creatures - us! We have brought more joy and sadness to God than any other of His creation. He is delighted when we delight ourselves in Him and He gives us the desires of our hearts (Psalm 37:4). Then God is grieved when our hearts go after evil (Gen.6:5-6). The reality is that although he is not equal to God, mankind has made the devil an alternative to God. We have "set up" two kingdoms and we daily flutter from one to the other. The enemy tries to chain man to his side, but Jesus has been our chain-breaker. When we are on God's side the reason the enemy can lure us back to his bondage is simply because God doesn't chain us to Him. He asks us to choose Him, because only willing love is true love. He keeps us relationally, so when we become a son, we'll always be, but God allows us to fellowship where we want. Let us appreciate the true love and freedom of God and choose every moment to cheer His heart by choosing Christ-like living.

John 8:36: If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
