Man, 18, on murder charge after killing Old Harbour soup vendor

An 18-year-old man is scheduled to face the court on January 25 on a charge of murder for the killing of a well-known soup vendor in Old Harbour.

Marlon Thompson, the accused, is currently in police custody following the fatal incident that occurred about 12:30 pm on January 9.

Johnson will have to answer to the charge of murder when his case is mention for the first time in the St Catherine Parish Court.

In a report from the police, on the day in question at a tenement yard at 1a Walker’s Road, Old Harbour, Johnson and a woman had dispute.

An altercation developed between the two during which the woman’s boyfriend, 42-year-old Tyrone Chambers, otherwise called, ‘Coolie’ intervened.

The woman, who had a knife in her hand at the time, lost possession of the weapon during the fracas, which Johnson used to stab Chambers in the chest.

Chambers, who sells soup at nights along the hip strip area of West Street, Old Harbour, was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The killing of Chambers is the second recorded homicide for the Old Harbour Police Zone.
