Shane Heron was recently found guilty and sentenced in the St Catherine Parish Court, Spanish Town for breaking into two homes in April of this year.
- Rape suspect in custody of Old Harbour police
- Old Harbour rape suspect charged with burglary, more charges pending
Heron is also before the courts on charges of rape involving a mother and her teenage daughter allegedly committed a few weeks before his capture.
The now convict has been on the radar of investigators at the Old Harbour CIB as his description, as described by victims, came up multiple times in several reports of house break-ins and rape committed within the Old Harbour space.
And it has been several months since the police have been pursuing their man who was nabbed in late May during a special operation following the alleged rape of a mother and daughter inside their home close to the town centre.
Once in police custody victims were encouraged by the police to come forward. It was during this period that two mobile phones that the police had found on Heron’s person were positively identified by his victims whose homes were burglarized.
Additionally, he was placed on an ID parade in which he was also pointed by victims as well.
This resulted in a successful conviction for the police and prosecution, however, investigators continue to work assiduously on the more serious case of rape and to hae that matter placed before a magistrate.
