Amor Kids and Party Rentals eyes expansion after launch
Last Saturday night's affair was a significant and symbolic moment for the Barton's born entrepreneur whose business has seen a steady ascension since its establishment in 2019.
It represents the growth of a niche that Gonzales herself realized by happenstance when she was with child six years ago and at the same time is inspiring others like her to dream big.
It was also encouraging to see support from her fellow natives from within the business community. An all-woman cast including W&B Hardware head honcho Leleith Hesty, Netcom Computer Store's boss Chantal Pryce and Treacha Reid, founder of Shades of Elegance Salon and Spa were all present to support their business colleague.
Whilst sharing her journey inside the reception hall - one of three spaces occupied by Gonzales’ expanding business, the proprietor was brought to tears a few times as she recounted her travails getting to this point.
At the end, the warm acclaim was truly deserved as her business has grown from a modest start of selling kiddies tables and chairs. Today Amor Kids and Party Rentals has added to its suite of offerings a kids luxury spa as well as approximately 250 sq feet of space ideal for hosting special events at is new location atop Hardcore Plaza on West Street.
Gonzales, the managing and creative directive, told Old Harbour News afterwards: “We plan to take Old Harbour to the next level, we are providing employment too. We had a job fair two weeks ago and we’ve employed about 12 persons. From sales to marketing to cosmetologist specialist, promotional teams… It’s just great. I’m happy that we are able to contribute greatly to the growth and development of Old Harbour and Jamaica at large.
“Our customer base is not only Old Harbour. On a given weekend we are all over Jamaica. We go Montego Bay, we supply hotels as well. We have a good reach in Kingston, St Elizabeth… we literally go every single where in Jamaica.”
Not bad for a business that survived the covid-19 pandemic and continue to thrive on the inspiration of her daughter Amor.
“I am very satisfied with the fact that I like where my life is going and through her inspiration and God I have been able to achieve so much,” Gonzales added, noting the ultimate goal is to take the brand international with a few stores spread across the island.
“But I want to say that God has been really good and I just want to tell everyone that really want to start their business that no matter what go forth, don’t give up on your dream. Have your vision board and believe me it will materialize.”
