The 30-year-old light up Chedwin Park with seven fours and three sixes in an unbroken 82-run opening partnership with Ronville Brown (16no), as Old Harbour thrashed Linstead All Stars by 10 wickets in the St Catherine final.

Earlier, excellent bowling and fielding by two-time national champions Old Harbour restricted Linstead to 81 for eight.
Linstead’s opening batsman Cleon Thompson looked in good nick but was forced to retire hurt on 24. Thompson’s teammate Kemar Cox (17) and Kavan Rowe (14) both got starts but failed to help their team post a defendable target.

Though he was wicket-less, Russell was also brilliant with the ball, conceding only six runs from his three overs.

Deron Royal (2-11) and Erron Downer (2-21) further tightened Old Harbour’s grip on the contest after captain Lascele Davis (1-22) made the early breakthrough with only two runs on the board.

Linstead tried to up the ante, but Okeith Broderick and Dwayne Ewart both fell cheaply via the run out route.
Old Harbour needed only five overs to achieve their target, with Russell leading the charge. The West Indies all-rounder was brutal against Ewart, whose two overs cost 29 runs, while 18 runs came off the only over bowled by Rowe.

This is the sixth time Old Harbour, who were beaten in last year’s final, will be representing St Catherine in the competition.
