The deceased has been identified as 39-year-old Euwart Stephenson otherwise called ‘Biggy’ of said community.

According to the police about 6:20 pm Stephenson and another man, said to be 34 years old, were at a shop in Seven Miles when they were attacked by a lone gunman who fired a barrage of shots at them.

Stephenson died on the spot while the other man was rushed to the hospital where his condition is said to be very serious.

Following the shooting information reaching Old Harbour News is that Stephenson is believed to be the target of the attack, while the other man who is also a resident of the community, was unfortunately at the wrong place and time.

Stephenson, it is said, has been involved in a longstanding feud with other men in the area. He left the area to “cool out” following an alleged knife attack and had only recently returned to the community, a source said.

Old Harbour News understands that since his return Stephenson survived a knife attack, however, this latest assault proved fatal for him this time.

Investigation continues.
