“I like the high standard of the school, the deportment and the discipline of the students,” Hoilette said speaking to Old Harbour News.

This dream became a reality, following the announcement of the Primary Exit Profile (PEP) results. Hoilette with a combined score of 345.8 or 98.8% will be heading to the Constant Spring Road-based school this September.

“I feel I did well because most students did not receive such a high score. I am happy to see that I could accomplish my goals. I am also thankful for my mother’s support. She goes above and beyond to ensure that we have the resources to reach our highest potential,” said the 12-year-old said.

The former deputy head girl and prefect was the top student in the entire school. She was also the recipient of numerous first, second and third place awards and trophies for her test results in the Grade Four Literacy and Numeracy tests, the Grade Three Diagnostics exams, and was the top student in grade five.

Her mother, Sherene Powell said she wants the best for her children. “I talk to my children and I know what is happening with them. She told me that she wanted to attend Immaculate and then she worked hard towards it,” Powell said.

“Nothing is too hard for my children. If it means I have to wake up early and make breakfast for her, and take her to the bus stop, it has to be done,” Powell added.

While students were home during the coronavirus pandemic, Powell said she made a time table for her daughter and ensured that she did her work.

“I made sure the teacher had my number and we communicated to ensure we had all the information. Their work had to be finished before they were allowed to watch television,” she said.

Hoilette’s also wants to become an accountant, and is already focused on ensuring that her dream is also fulfilled.

“It won’t be easy when I start high school, but I am determined to ensure that I fulfill my dreams and make my parents proud,” she said.
