Freedom is not the right to do what you want, it's the want to do what is right. When Bartimaeus was released from his blindness by his faith in the power of Jesus, he was NOT commanded by the Lord to become a follower of Christ.

Jesus clearly told him, "Go thy way" (Mark 10:51). With his new ability and freedom this man had an opportunity to do what he wanted, go where he wanted, serve any boss he wanted. Jesus made no demands on him. As a matter of fact, right now Jesus was heading for an appointment with destiny, in Jerusalem. As Jesus walked away, Bartimaeus made a choice. He took the opportunity to make Jesus his goal. Mark 10:52 tells us that he followed Jesus in the way. We are not told what that meant for Bartimaeus but we believe that this was the best use of his opportunity. On a daily basis God graciously grants us opportunities to choose. These times we can show to an onlooking world who is Lord of our lives. Do understand that these moments are forming and defining your spiritual DNA. Others are hearing your sometimes unspoken messages very "loud and clear”. Take the opportunities given today to show that "Jesus is Lord of me”.  Freedom tells me that I must give thanks to God for my food, even in public.

Joshua 24:15 (excerpt): ...Choose you this day whom ye will serve..... but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord
