Police were called to the area after residents pounced upon the body of a male floating in the waterway.

The matter is being handled by the St Catherine South Police Division after a mix-up with their colleagues to the north. Where the body was discovered forms part of an imaginary borderline shared with the St Catherine North Police Division.

Investigators observed what they believed to be stab wounds to the upper torso and face of the deceased, who it is believed is from Montego Bay, St James.

Bloodstains were also observed on the bridge, leaving detectives to believe that the Chinese national was tortured first by his killers.

Investigators have refused to divulge much regarding what may have led the foreigner to such an isolated area so far from the second city and so deep into the woodlands, joining the communities of Bushy Park and Hartlands.

But Old Harbour News understands that the theory among police officers is that an illicit trade seemed to have gone bad and he was taken to the bushes and killed.

Detectives, it is further understood, are close to positively identify the deceased through ‘associates’ in Montego Bay. In the possession of the police is a photograph said to be the deceased before his tragic death. He appears to be of slim built, with dark shiny hair and about 32 years old.

Investigation continues.
