Truck driver runaway from Old Harbour accident scene
About one o’clock yesterday on East Street, Old Harbour, a trailer truck was involved in a collision with another vehicle.
However, suspicions were raised when the driver came of the truck and ran away immediately.
The police were called to the scene and following several checks over a protracted period of hours, it was discovered that the trailer, laden with petroleum, was reportedly stolen from Chesterfield Avenue off Constant Spring Road in St Andrew.
Investigators are in contact with the trailer truck owner, who the police say is cooperating with the investigation.
The incident, which occurred in the vicinity of KFC at the intersection of Vaz and Ascot drives created a pile-up of traffic for motorists entering the town from all four major entry points.
And up to late yesterday evening the truck was still in the town with arrangements being made for it to be removed.
There were no reports of any injuries.
Investigation is ongoing.
