Deceased in fatal Old Harbour drive-by shooting a taxi driver
Ricardo Thompson, 28, otherwise called ‘Grabba’ of a Longville Park, Clarendon address is purported to be the driver of the vehicle used to carry out an attack on a group of people during a music video shoot for local dancehall artiste Kashmar.
Fortunately no one was hurt.
According to the police at about 6:15 pm, a vehicle driven by Thompson, drove up at a plaza at 5 South Street where two men armed with guns opened fire at the crew.
However, an off-duty police officer in plain clothing challenged the gunmen during which Thompson was hit. The vehicle crashed into a wall, while the other men escaped on foot.
The manner in which Thompson met his demise has reignited debate for proper vetting of taxi operators, as some are said to be complicit in criminal activities.
Thompson plies the Longville Park to Old Harbour route and is known to many members of the public.
The Longville Park community is said to be in disbelief upon learning of Thompson’s alleged criminal involvement which cost him his life.
Meantime, investigators say they’re looking into several leads that may lead them to determine a reason for the drive-by shooting.
