“I felt very good and excited,” she said in an interview with Old Harbour News.

Antroy Howard, Johnson’s son, is now moving on to Glenmuir High, after he obtained an average of 89.13%.

“The exam wasn’t hard but at the same time it wasn’t easy,” he said before adding “I felt really great to know that I did my best and came out on top.”

The 11-year-old, who is a lover of football, aspires to become a biologist because he wants to study living things and invent different types of DNA to help people.

He said, he had lots of good times at Bois Content Primary and Infant, a small primary institution located in northern Old Harbour.

“My best memory at my primary school was how the teachers taught each class. Their teaching was fun,” said Howard.

Glenmuir is one of the top performing schools in Jamaica that is located in the parish of Clarendon. And given its status amongst secondary institutions of learning, Johnson wanted only the best for her boy.

“I chose Glenmuir because it is a good school and I know my son has the potential to go there and do his because he has always been a top performing student,” she said.

Howard is looking forward to continue to do his best and also to make new friends as he starts his new journey at Glenmuir.

This success comes with a lot of challenges along the way, Johnson noted, however.

She recalled not having any internet at home and having had to rely on buying expensive data plan to ensure that her son could access online class.

“He had to use data to access class and the connection wasn’t good so sometimes he is unable to hear what the teacher was saying and that was a setback for him,” Johnson said.

Despite the challenges that Howard faced he knew his mom would always be there to encourage him.

“My mother is my best motivator because she’s always there to encourage me and she always pushes me to do my best,” Howard said.

And what about her expectations of Howard?

“My advice to my son is to continue to do your best and choose the right company,” said Johnson.
