With more than a century of existence the school added another exciting chapter to its annals when they won the St Catherine leg of the INSPORTS National Primary School Football and Netball competitions last week.

On Tuesday December 6, coach Okeeno Bullock guided his young brigades to the parish title after a hard fought 1-0 win over defending champions McAuley Primary. Tournament MVP Alexavier Bailey scored the winning goal five minutes from the end to give his team a deserved victory at Prison Oval, Spanish Town.

On the following day at Prince Avenue in the Old Capital as well, it was time for the girls to replicate the achievements of the boys which they accomplished in similar dramatic fashion to dethroned neighbouring rivals Marlie Mount Primary.

Trailing 4-5 at half-time, Old Harbour Primary dominated the last two quarters to come away with a 9-5 win to spark wild celebratory scenes.

Old Harbour Primary will now represent the parish when the national play-offs begin in January 2023.

George Goode, principal of Old Harbour Primary, said it’s a moment they will savior for as long as possible.

“The administration and staff of the Old Harbour Primary School are extremely proud of our boys and girls and their coaches for their sporting success,” Goode said.

“The main takeaway of this victory for us is that our staff and students have really bought into the vision of the school where we are not only developing academic excellence but our vision is to develop students holistically.

“And so we see their academics, their sporting, their cultural, their social excellences are being developed. And they are really demonstrating to us that they are adhering to our core values of excellence. We preach excellence to them every day. Excellence is within us.

“I am really proud of my team. I’m really proud of my coaches and how well they’ve performed. We look forward to them representing the parish of St Catherine and representing well at the national level. We have no doubt that they will do well; and I invite stakeholders of St Catherine to come on board and support us as we send them off to represent the parish of St Catherine.”

Meantime, Naggo Head defeated Bridgeport 3-1 in the third-placed play-off in football, while in the battle for third in netball McAuley triumphed 12-7 over Naggo Head.
