NWC announces five-day water lock-off for Old Harbour communities
In an advisory issued by the National Water Commission (NWC), it stated that the communities of Bois Content, Planters Hall, The Aviary, Presidential Estate and New Harbour Village I, II, III and IV will be without the precious commodity until Friday, November 3.
The disruption, the NWC says is to facilitate “well rehabilitation activities” at its Colbeck station.
“This work is necessary to safeguard the viability of the well and to improve the overall efficiency of water supply operations,” stated the utility company.
“Customers served by this system are being encouraged to store water for use during the disruption period. In the interim water will be trucked to the affected areas.”

In an update shared on Saturday, the NWC announced a temporary supply schedule to reduce the impact of the disruption in supply during the period. As such it says the The Aviary and Presidential Estate will receive piped water between the hours of 6:00 pm and 8:00 am, while it will be similar for Old Harbour Bay except that water will be channeled through the pipes during the hours of 8:00 am and 6:00 pm. All four New Harbour Village enclaves and Colbeck Manor will continue to receive water in their pipes, albeit at low pressure. Water will be trucked to the Planters Hall Primary School on alternate days.
