Thousands to remain without water from NWC Marlie Mount facility
From approximately 8:00 pm Friday, thousands of residents served by the facility have been without water, with the utility company failing to provide an update until midday Sunday.
In an advisory on the situation, the NWC stated: “Water supply is currently disrupted for NWC customers in sections of St. Catherine due to mechanical issues impacting the Marlie Mount water facility. The company is indicating that as soon as an assessment is done customers will be informed of a restoration date.”
Old Harbour News have been flooded with calls from concerned residents impacted by the disruption.
With the prolonged heat having a deleterious effect on them already, many residents say the absence of running water is making living conditions unbearable.
That the NWC is still unsure of the resumption of normal service will only serve to heighten anxiety and frustration among those impacted.
At the same time the NWC says it “regrets any inconvenience this disruption may cause and craves the patience and understanding of its valued customers”.
Areas affected are: Marlie Mt., parts of Marlie Acres, Church Pen, Old Harbour Villa and Island Farm and sections of Old Harbour.
